Over the years, we have witnessed a growing number of HF practitioners become embedded in hospitals. We watched as this first generation of embedded practitioners struggled to find their place in healthcare. This struggle was due to a variety of barriers, such as being an n=1, the “we fix it ourselves” healthcare culture, receiving little to no support from leaders, no required HF by regulatory bodies as it is in other industries, and much more.

That being said, that first generation of HF practitioners were not ones to shy away from resistance. Not only have we witnessed their struggles, but we have watched them perceiver. This first generation paved the way for a second generation of embedded HF practitioners to emerge and continue creating lasting changes in healthcare.
